Back to School: Dive in!

Dive in and Dive Deep

“There is time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens”, says the Scripture (Ecclesiastes 3: 1). The vacation time for St Gregory’s school is ended and a new academic year has just started. The teachers resumed work first and the students followed. As part of the traditional take-off customs, parents came to meet the teachers; this meeting started in the Church, and proceeded to the school and the classrooms.

St Gregory’s school is one of the very important and valuable ministries we undertake as a parish, and it is a major channel of human and spiritual formation for our children, which gives glory to God and promotes his kingdom on earth. Our children are our treasures, and “where your treasure is, there your heart will also be (Matthew 6: 21).

Joyfully, our parish welcomes back to school all the students, teachers, and staff (old and new), and appreciates all the parents who have not only entrusted their children to our care, but are ready to work with us to see to the realization of our common goal, which is, the integral formation of the students.

“Dive in and Dive in Deep”; this is the theme chosen by our school this year to guide its steps towards the attainment of its set objectives. I see in this theme an invitation to all of us, parishioners of St Gregory’s, to commit ourselves unreservedly by active participation and full involvement in the various roles and ministries that define us as a parish. We know that diving in and diving deep can be frightening, but our fears are overcome by our faith.

We are hopeful for a bountiful harvest if we choose to dive in and dive deep. On my part, I have chosen to dive in and to dive in deep. What about you?

We entrust all the students, teachers, staff, and administration of our school to God’s direction, guidance, and protection throughout the academic year.

St Gregory the Great, pray for us.
